March Madness: when NCAA basketball teams have a single elimination tournament to crown the number one team.
Or in my case, when I don’t care about collegiate basketball the entire season, but go crazy rooting for my teams only during the month of March. And let’s face it, that landed me 21st place (AKA LAST PLACE) last year in my extended family’s online pool. In fact, here’s a snippet from last year’s final chain email recapping the tournament events…
Yeah. I guess that’s what you get when you spend five minutes filling out a bracket with the blind monkey theory.
Or is it?! I’ve rewritten this line five times trying not to sound too braggy, but I’m just gonna come right out and say it… forget the cruise, I FINISHED FIRST PLACE IN MY FAMILY’S BRACKET THIS YEAR. Proof below. :)
This is a BIG deal, people, and calls for great celebration. It’s especially awesome because I did zero research on the teams and still managed to pick the final four, final two, and final team (my homeboys, Kentucky!) correct. I know, you’re dying to see my entire bracket, aren’t you?! Check it out HERE!
You can bet I am milking this win for all it’s worth round these parts (since chances are slim that it will ever happen again). Because seriously, I finished 99.6 percentile in the country. Which means, out of over seven million contestants, THIS GIRL finished 27,009. Yes sir-ee!
So watch the tear jerker film, One Shining Moment, while you eat a cupcake today in honor of me! Actually, eat five! Happy Day! ;)
