He was the cool kid on the soccer team… she was the self-proclaimed “nerd” in all the AP classes. They started dating their junior year of high school and were the best of friends from the very start. Their high school days were filled with sporting events, Turkey Hill runs, bonfires, and always accidentally being late to class because they’d meet at Cara’s locker in between periods. Prom came, then graduation… and then they were off to college. Though far apart, they stayed together through it all… eight years of undergrads, the start of Steve’s career and Cara’s med school studies. Needless to say, they put a lot of miles on their cars through the (thousands of!) long distance days.
It was January 28th, 2017 when they went out to brunch at Bigham Tavern in Pittsburgh. The waitress told them they were running a special scavenger hunt promo and you could win Penguin’s Hockey tickets if you completed it in the fastest time. Game on.
For the hunt, you had to stop at countless places all around Pittsburgh, take pictures at each one, and then submit them to Bigham Tavern to win. Cara, being *slightly* competitive, was ALL IN… sprinting around the city the whole time! At their final stop, the top of Mount Washington, there was a riddle. Thinking victory was almost theirs, Cara used the clues from the other stops to fill in the letters…
”W-I-L-L Y-O-U M-A-R-R-Y M-E-?”
Forget the Penguin’s Hockey tickets!! Right there in that moment, Cara felt like she’d won the lottery as Steve got down on one knee overlooking the whole city and asked her to be his wife.
Steve and Cara! Wow I can’t wait for June. <3 I’m so grateful and honored that you’ve chosen me to be your wedding photographer and will seriously be counting down until we’re celebrating at Linwood Estate together! For now, enjoy a few of my favorites from our time together! Xo
