They met as little kids in Sunday school, and though they grew up as family friends, it wasn’t until after high school that Patrick finally asked Brooke out on a date. Both Patrick and Brooke live life with such genuine joy, passion, and intention that once they started dating it quickly became clear this was something that was going to last…

Knowing without a shadow of doubt that Brooke was the woman that Patrick wanted to spend the rest of his days serving the Lord with, he planned a proposal he hoped would somehow begin to scratch the surface of just how much he loved Brooke Wolgemuth.

It was a random Monday night that Patrick came over for what she thought was going to be a relaxing night in. Upon his arrival, he subtly convinced Brooke to get ready to head out the door because he wanted to take her out to eat at her favorite creperie downtown. While on their way, Patrick casually suggested they go canoeing at his house first just for fun, but little did Brooke know what he really had in store…

As Patrick began rowing and they glided softly down the creek, Brooke noticed floating candles began surrounding them with even more candles lining the creek bed. Brooke asked what was going on, but Patrick just grinned back at her with that smile she’d fallen in love with. As they arrived at a little island along the creek, they were met by Brooke’s two sisters. They guided her down a path surrounded by flowers and more candles until they reached a white linen canopy with a bamboo structure, hand built by Patrick himself. Patrick & Brooke sat there on their island as close family members brought out dinner course after dinner course. With each course a new loved one brought out to them, the anticipation and sweetness of the moment built more and more. After finishing dinner, they slow danced to a few of their favorite songs before Patrick led her to a new row boat that carried them to another little haven upstream. It was there, beneath a hanging lantern and surrounded by floating candles that Patrick knelt down on one knee in the canoe on that summer evening and asked Brooke to be his wife.
