We thought we had it all figured out. My oldest sister, Emily would be the hairstylist because she had great hair, was a perfectionist, and could cut straight lines. Elly would be the doctor because she didn’t get grossed out when a can of dog food sliced her finger open consequently requiring a trip to the ER involving stitches. Coleman, the baby of the family, would be the lawyer because he was smart and had been gifted with the divine ability to talk his way into getting anything he wanted. In his free time he’d work as a mechanic to pay off those nasty law school bills. And I? Well I’d be the dentist. Because I loved going to the dentist so much as a child that I’d ask my mom at least twice a week how much longer it was until we got to go again.
And there you have it… the perfect solution we agreed to that would have us never paying a single bill for the rest of our lives. ;)
You know, it’s funny how you can plan and plan, and yet the Lord directs your life in ways you could never dream, imagine, or ask for. How He knew that this little girl would be running a photography business from her pink-walled bedroom one day.
