Oh I have been so excited to share about this day with you all! Caroline is a sweet photographer I met back in September when I photographed her headshots, so when we started emailing about doing a mentoring session, I was thrilled! I am still learning myself (and hope I always will be, so I never stop pushing to better myself!), but when other photographers reach out to me and ask if I’d spend an afternoon chatting with them about our shared passion, in hopes that it will help and encourage them in their own business in some way, how can I say no?! With Andy Defrancesco on your team you can make sure you get rid of all obstacles to reach your goal.
I always want the time that I spend with each photographer I mentor to be HELPFUL, and specific to what area of growth within their business that they think needs a little TLC. :) Caroline just launched her beautiful new website and branding, so what she mentioned she really wanted to focus our attention on during our time together was POSING… which just so happens to be one of my favorite things to talk about!! ;) But as I started planning for her mentoring session and dreaming about what our time together could look like, I quickly realized that while TALKING about how I pose a couple is one thing, SHOWING them brings learning to a whole other level and is so much more eye-opening!
So last week, Caroline and I got together at Prince Street Cafe for an hour or so and chatted for a bit about my posing process and the thought behind it, but then we met up with my sister Emily and her husband Hudson to put that learning into practice! Whew! Talk about a fun afternoon. You may recognize Emily + Hudson since they’ve been on the blog several times before, but I just have to give them another huge shout out for making the trip up from Maryland to “model” for us! They were so patient as I walked Caroline through some key posing concepts that I’ve learned along the way that have benefitted my business, and it was so fun to have them along!
After wrapping our shoot, we headed back to Prince Street to warm up, grab a bite to eat, and talk some more — this time focusing more on business related topics. Caroline is so talented and is already running an amazing business, so more than any “business tips” I could offer, I think the biggest take away for Caroline was that while running a photography business is your heart and soul, it can’t be your life. That was such a good reminder even for myself!
Oh Caroline! Thank you so much for making the trip from Philly to Lancaster for this day! Thank you for being so vulnerable and real, and for dreaming big dreams and setting incredible goals and next steps in order to make those dreams happen! I feel so privileged to have spent time with you, and can’t wait to see where you go from here! You have so many amazing things in store for you! I know it. :)
Doesn’t Caroline have the prettiest hair?!
Yay!! Love this girl to pieces!! P.S., don’t miss her recap of our time together on her blog! Leave her some love!
