They met years ago by chance at a summer cookout, mere days before they both began their freshman year at separate colleges. And although Zach was packing up and heading off to the United States Military Academy in West Point where he wouldn’t have access to a phone or internet during training, he knew he was not about to let a chance with this girl who’d completely captivated him in just a matter of hours slip through his fingers. And so he wrote. And he wrote. And he wrote. All summer he wrote letters to her… proving with each stroke of his pen the commitment and deep care he carried in his heart for her. As they both pursued their degrees and ambitions miles apart, their hearts continued to grow closer and later that fall they began officially dating.
A lot of life happened between their freshman year when they met and now, and they were blessed in 2013 when they welcomed their sweet and handsome little son, Liam, into the world. Their relationship has grown in ways they never imagined possible, and God has carried them and walked with them through every season, proving His faithfulness every step of the way.
While road tripping cross country as a family, they stopped at Mount Vernon to sight see. As they casually strolled towards the Manor House, Liam handed Becca a letter from Zach. A sweet love note, Becca soaked in Zach’s genuine, handwritten words as she had so many times since that first summer they met. But this time, as she folded the letter, she looked up to find Zach before her down on one knee, asking her to be his wife. And there they stood, the three of them, upon grounds that held so much beauty and history, creating their own beautiful story to be told in years to come as they rejoiced and praised God for His goodness in their lives and reveled in the beauty of the moment and the new chapter yet to come in their lives.
Zach, Rebecca, Liam… it is the deepest honor for me to be your wedding photographer. Your hearts and testimony to what God has done in your lives is beautiful and makes me SO excited for May when so many will gather to celebrate with you in that!! I hope you love these images from our time together… thank you for making the trip to Lancaster and for braving the rain. I love how cozy and sweet your love is and how clearly that shows in these images… :) Enjoy them! Xoxo
