“Ok. Elly, you go with Emmy,” patting the leg of her five year old daughter with a reassuring smile.
“Mommy, NO. We’ll get KIDNAPPED!!!” She said, horrified.
From the very back of the van, a confident three year old voice piped up, “Hand me the money, I’ll go.”
And so it was. At three years old, I ran into the mini mart and bought a gallon of milk all by myself.
There’s something magical about the mind of a child. Sure, they are easily frightened by a bad dream, separation from their parents, or a monster in the closet, but at the same time, they have fewer fears than an adult does. Children don’t have financial stress or fear of failure. They have trusting hearts and haven’t yet been exposed to some of the harsher realities of life. They have the ability to just be. And that is something beautiful.
In order to create confident subjects, produce images that are unique, or run a business that will grow, we, as artists, must live fearlessly. And that very simple idea is quite possibly the hardest thing to do.
Because quotes are my FAVE I just had to share a few that hit home for me this past week…
So here’s to dreaming big, living fearlessly, and simply being.
