There’s something miraculous about the months leading up to the birth of your very first child. Nine euphoric months of anticipation and preparation. Nine months of celebration and congratulation. Nine months dreaming of all the incredible in store. And while I love being a photographer, my biggest dream is to someday be a wife and mother.
I had the distinct pleasure of capturing my friend, Thao, glow on the day of her baby shower. I couldn’t have been more honored that Thao and her husband, Do, asked me to be a part of this wonderful day. Baby girl Sammie is due in May and I just can’t wait to meet her!
I arrived at the shower a bit before Thao and Do made their grand entrance and I watched as their family and friends rallied to create a day to honor Thao and everything that she is. The shower was so incredibly beautiful that “ooooohhhhs” and “ahhhhhhhhs” rolled off my tongue as I admired the perfect decor moments after walking in the door. Immediately Thao’s sister turned to me and told me that this day was just one small way of thanking Thao for all that she’d done for them.
I smiled because I fully understood what she meant. That’s just the way Thao is. In fact, in the midst of being surrounded with dozens of her closest friends and family on this day, she made me feel like an HONORED GUEST. ;)
Although I usually stick to wedding and portrait photography, I just had to share a few images with you…
Each guest brought along one of their favorite children’s books to start off Sammie’s library. They each wrote a note to her and tucked it inside their book. So sweet!
These people were so fun to spend the afternoon with… JOY JOY JOY.
Anticipating Thao’s arrival…
And they’re here! Yes, that is Cooper, Thao and Do’s fur baby. Is he not the cutest?!
Love!
Couldn’t resist some belly shots! I just can’t wait for her maternity session. Thao, you are STUNNING.
And of course we had to get a family portrait. ;)
The food was out of this world amazing! And gorgeous too…
And OHMYGOODNESS. Don’t get my started on this cake!
Special thanks to Thao’s mom and sisters for planning this beautiful day… will you girls plan MY shower in fifteen years?! ;)
Thao with her parents… they’re pretty amazing people to have raised such a remarkable daughter.
And I’ll end with one more of Cooper… he’s such a good boy and is going to make an incredible big brother!
Thank you so much, Thao and Do, for making me feel so welcome… I adore you guys and am so excited to meet your sweet baby! xoxo
