It was while attending Villanova University that Dan met his best friend, Jim. Since Dan is from St. Louis, he was not always able to make the long trip home for breaks, so Jim’s family “adopted” him into the family to spend holidays with them here and there instead.

It juuust so happened that Allison was neighbors with Jim, and best friends with his younger sister, Brigid. Growing up, they were more like family than neighbors. Although Dan and Allison crossed paths a few times throughout the years, nothing ever came of it. In fact, in 2013, Dan gave a toast as Jim’s best man… and Allison’s mom left the wedding sure of the fact that Dan was the one for her daughter. Allison just didn’t quite know it yet.

Fast forward a bit and Dan and Allison found themselves attending a summer golf tournament that their best friends’ (Jim and Brigid, respectively) family hosts annually. After spending the day together, Dan finally got Allison’s number… safe to say the rest is history!

Knowing that Allison loves Christmas with her whole heart, Dan knew the proposal had to revolve around it. On Christmas Eve, right before they left for Allison’s parent’s house, Dan told her he had a surprise. Directing her to close her eyes and stand under the mistletoe, when she finally opened her eyes, Dan was down on one knee before her! And just like that… her mom was right. Dan really was the one, no doubt about it. <3
