It was second semester of college, right after Christmas break, that she sat in a friend’s dorm room pouring over textbooks all evening as they studied together for an upcoming quiz. Eventually, her friend’s roommate got a call that a bunch of her guy friends wanted to come over and hang out, and as they all filed into the small dorm room one by one, talking loudly and disrupting their studies, Rachelle was unimpressed. Trent, being the type of guy that has never met a stranger, sat himself down right next to Rachelle and struck up a conversation with her. Still quiet and unimpressed by the untimely interruption, Rachelle politely answered his questions all the while thinking of all the studying she had yet to do… but the longer they talked, the more her worries about studying disappeared… ;)

As the days passed their interest in each other grew and though Rachelle told Trent she just wanted to be friends at first, his loving personality and kind heart quickly won her over, proving it really is true that you find someone when you least expect it.

So what started as an evening of happenstance, hanging out with a group of random friends in a dorm room, resulted in Trent leading Rachelle on Christmas Eve a few years later to an area lit up in magical twinkly lights with a sign that said “Will you marry me?” and their families waiting to surround them in hugs of congratulations as Rachelle’s simple yet so very powerful answer of “YES” joyfully resonated from her heart and mouth.
