They met in college when her roommate and his twin brother started dating. They were strictly friends at first… Zach will even admit he didn’t want a girlfriend his senior year. He wanted to graduate single “because it would be easier with less to worry about post-graduation.”

UnFORTUNATELY, a pretty girl named Abby came along and ruined that plan pretty quickly. :) Their first date was going out for wings per Abby’s request (KEEPER FOR SURE). She made a total mess of herself with wing sauce all over her face… but Zach still told her she was cute (KEEPER FOR SURE).

Through college graduations and long distance, Zach developed a master scheme to propose that involved her best friends, Megan and Izzie. Guided by Zach, Megan asked Abby to go hiking with her one weekend, about a month in advance. Megan was randomly free that weekend from law school, so of course Abby thought nothing of it. Weeks passed and she still thought nothing of it, even when Zach told her he’d be coming to visit her the weekend of the planned hike. Abby told him that was fine, as long as he came hiking with them… little did she know that was his plan all along.

About 15 minutes into the hike, on a cliff overlooking a red covered bridge and waterfall, Zach got out a Bible engraved with “Abigail M Ackerman” on it, her new name. <3 Next thing she knew he was down on one knee and the tears were flowing for them both… I don’t think she could say yes fast enough!
